Sprout the Scraps: An interactive zine about preventing food waste

Collage · Printing · Illustration

For this university task I created an informative zine and poster for a campaign addressing food waste in the home. The intention was to create an engaging resource that could inspire children and families to save food. The zine compiles easy steps to regrow vegetables from scraps that are usually thrown away. As I wanted to created a fun and interactive work, I worked with collaging coloured papers with my own ink illustrations, creating flaps mimicking a children’s pop up book.

The A6 book was paired with a paper cover mimicking a bin, suggesting the user is saving the food when taking the zine out. With the same illustration style and type, a poster with the slogan “Don’t bin it, let it bud.” was also designed and made into a mockup.
